What is central home, really?

A "split system" is the classic central HVAC setup: an outdoor condenser, an indoor furnace or air handler, and ductwork that runs to every room. When your existing system is 12+ years old or constantly breaking down, a full replacement is usually cheaper long-term than another repair.

When you need it

  • ·Your AC or furnace is 12+ years old
  • ·Repair quotes keep climbing — you're throwing good money after bad
  • ·Some rooms never get cool (or warm) enough
  • ·Your energy bills have been creeping up year over year
  • ·You're selling the home and want a system that holds up under inspection

A new high-efficiency split system can cut your cooling bills compared to a 15-year-old unit. Today's systems are also quieter and more reliable.

We don't push the most expensive brand — we install what fits your home, your usage, and your budget.

What it costs.

A full central AC + furnace replacement is a typical investment of $8,000–$12,000. The range depends on your home's size, the efficiency tier you choose (standard, mid, or high), and whether any ductwork needs work — larger homes (2,500+ sq ft) and full ductwork replacement push toward the upper end.

Final quote is always written, itemized, and given to you before any work begins. No hidden fees, no surprise charges.

Central Home questions, answered.

How long does a full system replacement take?
Most installs are 1 day. If we're also upgrading ductwork or running new line sets, plan on 2 days. We'll give you a firm timeline before we start.
Do I need to replace the furnace and AC together?
Not always — but if both are 12+ years old, replacing them together is usually the right call. Mixing a brand-new AC with a dying furnace often shortens the new unit's life.
What's SEER2 and what should I look for?
SEER2 is the efficiency rating — higher is more efficient. Code minimum in California is 14.3 SEER2. We usually recommend 16–18 SEER2 for our area — the savings on your bill pays back the upcharge in a few years.
Will you haul away the old equipment?
Yes. Removal and disposal of the old system is included in every replacement quote.
